Wasserkuppe/Tirana. The weekend was very successful for the pilots from the Rhön at the International Paragliding Accuracy Championship in Vlora/Albania.
In the international field of 25 nations and 105 participants, including many of the best pilots in the world, Lennard Schubert (17 years), achieved a podium finish on 13 May behind the World Champion Zvetan Tzolov from Bulgaria and the 2022 World Cup winner Eduard Daci from Kosovo.
Together with last year’s winner Matjaž Sluga from Slovenia and his brother Linus Schubert, they won the team classification ahead of the French and Albanian teams. Lennard, currently already 2nd in the FAI U26 world ranking, also won the international U26 ranking.
The award ceremony was staged in a particularly impressive way. Confetti cannons, smoke machines, fireworks and music by “The Who” created a goose bump atmosphere.
While Germany has never achieved a title in the discipline Precision or Accuracy, which is very popular for spectators, the very young talents from the “mountain of fliers” are now considered top favourites for the next World Cups.
The World Cup final will be held on 28/29.9.23 after 4 dates in Asia as the only European competition on the Wasserkuppe.
