Lennard Schubert from Poppenhausen achieved an outstanding third place in the individual paragliding World Cup final in Alanya, Turkey.
Poppenhausen/Alanya. In the team classification, the Papillon team with Matjaž Sluga, Andreas Schubert, Remy Ochmann and Lennard Schubert took the silver medal.
The World Cup Final is where the world’s 80 best pilots compete in spot landing every year. The final in the Turkish coastal flying area of Alanya was Lennard’s third World Cup this season.
The only 17-year-old piloted his first podium success and ended up in third place, after the overall World Cup winner Matjaž Sluga (Team Papillon) and the reigning European champion George Cotet.
With this success, Lennard is expected to climb to at least second place in the U26 youth world rankings.
The final was also a success for the Papillon Paragliders team. Behind Team Serbia, the pilots reached second place.
This is the third success in a row for the Papillon team: they also won silver at the World Cup in Slovenia in September. At the European Championships in Croatia, the Papillons even took first place in the team ranking.
